What Do You Hear Game

Toddlers and preschoolers love scavenger hunts. It adds interest to going to the park or being on a walk or even finding something to do in the backyard. In this game, we’re using a chart to start listening for common sounds heard outside like a car, birds, or a cat. The chart is geared towards a city with the sound of kids (or other people), music, and sirens.

What this activity does is helps children learn how to identify sounds and how to listen in their own environment.

A good book to compliment this activity is The Listening Walk by Paul Showers, which is about a young girl that learns to listen while talking a walk.
